I know the Kelly Family - Of cause, I am German. I don’t like them and I don’t know anyone who does. They have long hair and wear weird cloth and their voices are too high. I never understood why they were that successful.
Anyway, I love the recap - though I don’t get everything because I am stuck in Germany. You and your show I my dose of American English (My Professors either have a German of a British accent…)

Hey, Buck! I agree with you on David A.’s song choice. It was really strange. He sang it well, but I really didn’t care for the song. He needs to realize that the point of singing on American Idol is to sing songs that the VIEWERS really like, not so much what he likes. He can sing anything he likes in the shower, but on the big stage he needs to sing POPULAR songs that the listeners recognize and like. Hello, David! Are you listening?!
I do wish you’d stop mocking his responses. He’s a shy kid and doesn’t gush like you say he does. Of course, I’ll admit to being a besotted, rabid David Archuleta fan who doesn’t like it when he’s dissed for who he is as opposed to his performances.
I wonder if he’ll sing “I Will Always Love You” on Tuesday. Whitney made it famous, but Dolly wrote it. He sang it at age 11 to NYC firefighters on the anniversary of 9/11 and could do it well with his big voice. I know they want him to do upbeat songs, but this one could be a doozy.

Oh, I forgot to tell ya. The girl next to Dad Archuleta is Mietra, one of David’s closest friends. She’s in a couple of MTV’s videos and says they can talk forever especially when she’s gotta get home for curfew. (Makes me remember high school, way back when. Ha!)
Also, David’s vocal coach who has worked with him for five years said: “Although Jeff is very much involved, I have never seen him do anything that would imply bullying, undue pressure or anything that appears extreme or inappropriate,” says Kaelin. “I can definitely draw a line between what a stage parent is, and how Jeff interacts with his son.”
So, I think it’s just the typical media hatchet job that they love to do. False, unsubstantiated claims–who cares, let’s run with it! I didn’t believe it to begin with because David’s too happy and well-adjusted. He’d be a head case if what they are alleging were true, and he definitely isn’t that.

Unless I were able to sing a song from a musical, then it would be something from Phantom of the Opera. Probably “Angel of Music” or “Wishing Your Were Somehow Here Again.”

I only watch American Idol for David Archuleta. He has such a pure sounding voice. I hate Brooke, David Cook and all the other contestants. And, yea, I really hate the cowgirl. She’s only there because she’s pretty. Every time she sings I get up to get more food and just binge to kill the pain.

Wander in and out with the rest of them except for David Archuleta. At that point, I’m three feet from the TV, my attention riveted. Love that cute, sweet kid and his incredible voice!
If you haven’t watched David’s YouTube stuff, you should. (Especially good are the Christmas songs, “Angel”, “I’ll Be”, “A Thousand Miles”, even “Happy Birthday”. The MTV video clips, FOX Interview, and David Archuleta Interview Part 1 and Part 2 are also excellent.)

I’m not sure I agree about the racist element. I would definitely vote for anyone of any color if I thought they were the best.
It’s not MY fault the best singers are Caucasian. I love Effie David, of course. (I appreciate you not using the “P” word, Buck. Thank goodness for small favors!) My next favorites are David Cook and Brooke. Jason is cute, sweet, sings fairly well. The rest pretty much leave me cold. Carly has pipes, but I agree that she just doesn’t seem to connect with the audience. That’s true in my case, at least.
All of the South must be voting for Kristi Lee Cook. They should do us a favor, though, and STOP! She is SO bad. This last song was decent, definitely her best effort, but she is SO out of her league.
