Hi BucK As always LUV U! Loved Dolly week. My brother and I have been dolly fans since we were little. Country music is not my favorite, but I got more words right from 9to5 than U did on ur montage! lol but I am in the shower and you are in front of millions.lol And yes the Grease 2 girl lol sould be the only one writhing on the piano. hehe
K ,you were spot on w/ ur critique…per usual! Idol has kinda started to bore me. I guess how BB has lost it’ shine for you. Paula is not as drunk…Randy only has a few words in his vocabulary… and Simon seems truly bored not just smug.
OK I watch all ur shows, addicted truly! What is up w/ the JB pandering??????? I have never heard one of their songs(sorry is my age showing I am older than 13). Cute but, dig your talent, but if it get’s u more hit’s I am all 4 it!
Adore ad 4 those of us who know MY FARM… I wish they would make all the idols sing that !!!!!!!!

Of course I will be hear tomorrow night leaving my observations and criticisms. Yes it was Ramiele’s turn to go but KLC must go next (even though this week nobody will go because it’s Idol Gives Back so they won’t kick anyone off).
Hilarious as always. Top 3 will of course be effie, cook and michael johns.

I just saw Simon, Randy, Paula and Ryan on Larry King. They said that last year they didn’t kick anyone off on Idol Gives Back week, but this year they WILL.
So, someone IS going home on Thursday. I would love to see Kristi Lee Cook’s back as she heads for the door. Do not care for her much.
Buck, you are wonderful in many ways, totally funny. TOO RAUNCHY for me this week, though. I hope you go back to your previously more classy approach to critiquing Idol. I hate the vulgar stuff you threw in.
I guess I’ll have to give it some time to see if we’re compatible. I’m hoping so because you are extremely funny and very talented. I do think you are a really nice, great guy. Enjoy you…USUALLY!

I really want to like Brooke, but WHAT is wrong with her? She is my age, 23, and she looks like she is about 15 years older. What did her parents do to her growing up? She just seems wayyy too nervous, like she’s scared of her own shadow. It’s so awkward to watch her.
Regardless, thanks for the recaps and helping make this season of American Idol somewhat interesting. When you can do that, you can pretty much do anything! : )

I like your thoughts on the tattoos. Hate to think of people ruining their bodies at such a young age. However, maybe in 20+ yrs they’ll have some high tech machine that will just wash them away. That would be cool!

Okay, but when they announce the song as being Chris Cornell’s version of “Billy Jean” then you can’t really get pissed off about anything. Further, there is no way to be “original” in this competition, even if you add a little kettle drum or sing something in a slightly different style; they are still singing someone else’s song. And I don’t see a whole lot of merit in trying to be original seeing as it is intended to be a competition on who sings best, not who arranges someone else’s music best. Most of the people who go one to make records as a result of having been on American Idol aren’t going to write their own music anyway, and the ones that get writing credit usually just wrote the lyrics.

Speaking of old ladies having tattoos, have you seen that SNL skit called “Back Tattoos”? It’s about young girls who get these lower back tattoos and then regret it later when they’re old because it’s all saggy and horrid.

I know what you mean about tattos. I don’t think little ones are bad though. I want to get a treble clef on my ankle, so that way it’s easy to cover up but will look cute when I wear sandles.

If there is an old blog I did not view yet…trust me I was up till 3am one night viewing all, not all the way through Where is your song…. Oh and I DVR most of my shows cuz I am always at work, but if you DVR or Tivo American Idol, guys it is at most 32 minutes!!!! The least amount of time for it was 26 minutes! Buck,tattoos can look good very long time…I have some over 23 years old and they look good.I do agree that some people should not get them,eg.fad,thing to do etc.But if the tattoo has meaning,then by all means get some ink.If you are getting one to fit it,then,like you said Buck,they wont like them in 20-30 years…Sun also has abig effect on how tattoos fade.I keep mine covered all year long.I do asphault road work so it’s not like I am out of the sun…

This is the only intelligent reply to tattoos on this whole thing. Tattoos are part of a sub-culture in state societies (Us, Canada, Uk ect.) and many of the people in said societies that get them give them a bad rep. Tattoos are found in many countries and cultures across the globe with different rituals and processes of doing them. So having such a lame excuse like “When they are old they will look gross” is just plain ignorant and vain. First of all, when your 70 and 80 everything about your body “looks gross” its called getting old. (ladies you know what I mean if you have been in a public change room at the pool).
I have a huge problem with barbed wire tattoos, lower back tattoos, navel piercings and in some cases tongue rings because somewhere along the line a memo went out to all the brain dead women and men in our society that can’t think for themselves for a second and it said “This is “cool” we should all do it.” The 80’s and early 90’s had ugly clothes and hair… tattoos have unfortunately become the new “cool” lame thing to do. I honestly feel bad for all the people that got tattoos that they are going to regret because they thought it was the thing to do. Like getting the play boy bunny, or a butterfly.
As for myself, I thought about the concept for my first tattoo for years and where I was going to put it. This is how it should be. We would have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less barbed wire tattoos!!
So when the next time you think about tattoos buck I hope you take into consideration that our society’s “mainstream” tattoos are like the instant coffee of the tattoo world.

Great show, love your commentary.
Just have to say that I have seen some older women who’ve kept themselves in shape and out of the sun, and that look great with some great looking tats. I agree, some tattoos are not the smartest for women, such as stomach and sides, as pregnancy or weight gain can stretch them, but if you keep away from those areas and keep yourself fit and away from leather-skin caused by over tanning, why the hell not?
Besides, if I have stretched, wrinkly skin when I’m older (which I won’t), tats or not, I won’t be running around in a tube top and short shorts anyways.

My vote will be for David this week - great performance, great song choice. I thought he really connected with the music. You could sense that he was in the zone and that helps the audience connect with the singer. I think the mark of a good performance is that they make it look so easy that you forget to critique their every choice and just enjoy the song. David accomplished that the most successfully tonight. Sometimes he doesn’t.
On a lighter note, the only thing I can look at when Carly performs is her tattoo. I love Carly and I don’t mind tattoos as long as they are on other people but those long shots make her arm look dirty! It throws off the balance of her body! I just want to go up to her and start scrubbing her shoulder with soap and hot water until it goes away!

I thought David Archuleta hit it out of the park again this week. It was hard for him to top his old school/church versions on YouTube, though. I really LOVE them, too. Hard to say which I like best–old or new. The old ones you can’t hear so well over the screaming, but he really belts them out which I love. He did put a nice twist to the one tonight. I thought he was hands down the best of the night.
My other favorite was Jason Castro. I loved it. David Cook has done well in the past, but tonight he really stunk. His worst night ever, in my opinion. Doesn’t bother me much, though, since his fans keep coming to David A.’s sites to post hateful, nasty comments. Tacky.
Carly did pretty well. She was probably my third favorite. I have to agree with you on tatoos. I HATE her tatoo. Honestly, I don’t care for any tatoos, but hers is particularly irksome to me because it’s so huge and on one side. It makes her look off balance or something. She has a good voice, but she doesn’t connect with the audience very well. She also doesn’t seem to have her own particular style. She just sings relatively well and looks pretty and odd at the same time.
I’m happy. My guy did well.

I don’t think Kristy Lee Cook is as bad as everyone makes her out to be, she’d better than David Cook (eww) or Jason (i’m gay and i don’t think he’s that pretty, i personally think Michael Johns is sexier)
