yeah i agree with just about everything that was said in this video.
cant wait to hear your response. (:

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

okay i just read a lot of the comments and it was hilarious reading all the loopholes there were in the movie that i didn’t even notice.

for one thing i thought demi was going to wake up all excited because she was going to camp rock not because she was going to school. i mean how lame.

and another thing, what the heck happened to lola. like the last 30 minutes of the movie where they were at the final jam she was no where to be found. i mean if you’re not going to let her have her own performance at least let her be in the finale. how wrong was that.

i still enjoyed the movie and thought it was good but half the people who were suppose to be main characters like lola, peggy, ella, and of course the other two jo bros had like no parts. this reminds me of hsm 1 and 2 when taylor is suppose to be a dinamic main character and doesn’t even get her own song or at least a duet with chad or gabriella. i swear if she doesn’t get to sing in a song other than when the full cast sings that’ll be wrong because troy and gabriella sing almost all the songs and i get tired of hearing them sing nonstop. you’d think the characters like zeke, kelsi, jason, and martha would barely have any parts but they have like more parts than taylor and chad. taylor, chad. troy, gabriella, sharpay, and ryan should all have almost equal parts. yeah i understand troy and gabriella are the main characters but still. please comment back if you agree.

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

one more thing, i completely agree with buck whenever he says monique coleman the girl who plays taylor has like no parts in high school musical because it’s true. for example, in camp rock alyson stoner(caitlyn) is mitchie’s best friend at camp and you can tell because caitlyn in almost every seen and she’s always there for mitchie unlike tayor. if you saw hsm 1 and 2 for the first time and didn’t know any of the characters names, you would never think that taylor was gabriella’s best friend because she’s barely in the ovie.

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

hopefully camp rock 2 will make up for the mistakes in the first one but as of now i liked camp rock better than the first hsm but hsm2 was probably better performed than camp rock. however i still believe that camp rock is still one of the top three disney channel movies next to hsm and the cheetah girls because all of disney’s best movies are their musicals no matter how cheesy they are.

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

sorry i have so many comments but i had to get everything off my chest

  2. nelly Says:

ps- joe jonas, i think, took the award home. he did pretty well acting like a jerk. i like the scene when he first met mitchie in the kitchen and she told him off. his facial expressions were priceless and it was all around pretty good. I think the movie is getting such HORRIBLE reviews because they hyped it up a lot. and like the other person pointed out, advertised it as a jobros movie when it really wasnt.

  3. xAnnex Says:

Haven’t seen it yet but I probably will when it comes out over here.
    U rock Buck!

    horsegal121441 reply on June 23, 2008:

    Don’t expect much. lol

  4. HayleyGrl Says:

Great review Buck. But seriously Even if it wasnt a good movie, I still think it was better than HSM for me.

  5. slackproductions Says:

Personnaly I LOVED it! I know this is kind of sad but I’ve already seen it 6 times on t.v!
Any who even though I thought it was overal a good movie there were things that could have been improved. For example the opening scene! I didn’t really understand how she woke up, smiling, with perfect hair, make up on and fully awake! Also when Mitchie and Catlyne (or however u spell her name) were blowing up ballons but all the ones behind them were filled with helium! Do the have magic powers or something. How come the camp instructer didn’t recognize her song when joe sings it? Lastly I thought if I was her mom I would have been a little bit more upset about what she did.

But I really did love the movie! Some of it just made no sense!

It also lacked flow and the starting events of not going to camp then going were to soon and happened in a 2 minute span not enough time to digest it then get excited.

ycuevas reply on June 23, 2008:

i was totally thinking about that ballon thing when they showed it. i mean why be blowing up ballons if the ones behind you have helium that was pretty ridiculous. and i think the camp instructor didn’t recognize the song cause she say who will i be when she sang in front of the class and not this is me.

  6. kdidley Says:

I thought it was like a lot of the older disney channel original movies, so I thought it was pretty good. I liked the music (I’m actually getting the soundtrack today), and I totally agree about Demi’s teeth. She has very nice teeth, but a lot of her smiles were just too big. I would give this movie a B-

    buble1212 reply on June 24, 2008:

The movie was alright. They just jumped around a lot. There wasn’t enough time for the emotions to settle in. Like after the girls had the fight with that Tess girl, or Taylor, I forgot, they just automatically went their own ways. I think they tried TOO HARD to make it better than HSM. But there were too many gaps.

  7. itsbecca512 Says:

Camp Rock was nothing near as good as HSM, but it was a cute attempt.
The only thing that really bothered me was the timeline in the movie.
During the little fight scene between Joe and Demi he says, “you’ve been lying to me all summer!”
Uhm, hello, that’s like 40 minutes into the movie and it seems they’ve been there for a few days.
Not to mention they only talked like twice at that point.
It just didn’t make a lot of sense.
Also, the girl that played Tess couldn’t act to save her life. I still love her songs, they were catchy, but really, the girl needs to work on fake crying.
Demi was really good in it, I thought, but she decided not to lip sync half of We Rock.
During Joe’s dancing scene when he was teaching the class, he looked like he had tourettes.
Kevin was hilarious, and his horrible acting made it even more funny.
During the poolside scene with Kevin and Nick, I couldn’t exactly get past how short Nick’s shorts were, it was just really distracting.
Also, why did Joe wear so many striped shirts?
Oh yeah, whenever Joe was playing his guitar and talking to his uncle, he looked like his head was spazzing.
And whatever happened to Kevin’s birdhouse? It bothered me that he never got one.
Alyson Stoner did not get enough credit for this movie. And during the scene where Demi and her were talking on the dock, Demi’s pacing back and forth was really distracting, and mildly weird.
Oh, and the song that Peggy did was horrid, in my opinion.
And my last comment would be on how Joe looked in the movie. He looked strangely alien-like, and his squinty eyed smile was borderline creepy.

brianana reply on June 23, 2008:

hahahaa… yeah Joe’s dancing scene was ridiculous!! i was like ‘omg what?!?’… and yeah.. Peggy’s Song was so painful to watch and listen to. I agree with you about Alyson Stoner. She probably did the best acting in the whole movie.

  8. brianana Says:

yeah Camp Rock was pretty ridiculous. love how Joe was so ‘Angry’ all the time. They wanted it to be like HSM, but HSM was defff better. There were so many different characters in it, the man cast really popped out. I remember that part too when mitchie was staring at caitlin.. it was so random lol.. hahaa. Kevin WAS weird!! lol… yeah and HER smile is CREEPY!! (i bet you could relate? hahahaa) shes like ‘yay!! school where I’m a loser!’ But im glad you like disney stuff. I’m 19 years old watching this crap and I feel sooo lame!! lol… but yeah im not even gonna lie. I tell ALL my friends that I know all of the songs from HSM.

btw have you seen the new Legally Blonde show? I thought It was kind of cute at first but the more I watch the more I just want to turn it off… I dont know.. but yeah its been a while since I watched your show (sorry!!) my internet was just so slow.. but im back now!!

brianana reply on June 23, 2008:

omigosh caitlin.. i would never bring my laptop out into a lake…

  9. dbozsoccerplayer Says:

Yeah the acting was terrible, especially that tess girl (the mean girl) and her pathetic attempt at her crying at the end. Wipe that no tear away

I did like some of the songs, especially Demi, she has a pretty voice

I did not like the fact that these random people who had no plot line get a solo. I was like who the hell are you and why do I have to watch you for 3 minutes

I think Kevin was supposed to be the funny one but it was just funny at how forced he read his script

Demi does need to cut down on the smile a bit but I would rather see her smile then cry. I wanted to go through the TV and give her a hug while she was crying in the corner

My pull shapes dancing was better and that was a hot mess itself

  10. thejoesketch Says:

yay! sub forums! that is SOO much more help!

  11. mynameisnotmaddie Says:

I was watching it and thinking, “I’m so bored, I’m gonna fall asleep.” The acting and lip-syncing was pretty bad and that girl smiled way too big and way too much. The plotline was kinda weird.

The way the guy was trying to look for the girl with the beautiful voice kind of reminded me of The Little Mermaid.

It was okay, but it’s definately not going to be as popular as High School Musical.

  12. caintil31 Says:

I’m 15 and my sister is 11 and is totally into disney and HSM. I’m not the biggest fan of Disney movies but I watch them anyway. I thought Camp Rock was going to be horrible and a complete rip-off of HSM and I was right. It seemed to me that Joe was trying really hard to be Zac Efron. He was also a complete mess in the scene when he was teaching the other campers his dance moves. He should never, NEVER wear tight skinny jeans while dancing Hip Hop. He looked like an idiot. Kevin was really creepy and a terrible actor (what was with the birdhouse?). Demi although had a beautiful voice. It was the highlight of the entire movie. Most of the movie seemed ridiculous and cheesy. I actually was waiting for Joe and Demi to kiss the whole movie. It would have been perfect at the end.

hsmismylover reply on June 23, 2008:

i totally agree with you i’m 17 and i love disney my room is filled with hsm stuff but camp rock was just a big flop

  13. pefunk1892 Says:

I loved it so friggen much! I’ve been reading some of the comments on here, and I can’t believe what some of the people are saying. The music was great, the storyline was very well written (considering things like that are very common, lying to fit in and getting hurt cuz of it), and I can’t wait to watch it again.

Course, I’m 16 and I love Disney movies, so mayybe that’s just the way I feel.

PS: I thought Kevin was hilarious with the constant talk of birdhouses.

  14. tina_loves_blank Says:

I think there need to be more jonas scenes, and kevin didn’t act the best, but it seemed cute anyways. I liked the movie alot, though I may have had my expectations a tad bit high,
    eh wwjd?

    LOVE YOU BUCK!

  15. Amiranda413 Says:

I didn’t care for Camp Rock so much… It was hyped up so much and I was uber disappointed. The kiss just had to be there, there was a touch of over-acting, and it was just… not that great. I dunno. Alyson Stoner was okay in it, I guess.

  16. ellegirlsays Says:

I just watched it to see Joe Jonas. So, I really wasn’t disappointed. My theory on Demi Lovato smiling a lot is she’s showing off the fact that she closed her gap! I agree, Kevin can’t act, but it made it funny.

  17. pinkpenguin08 Says:

I agree with a lot of what was said in the video.

I am a HUGE JB fan and I have to say I was disappointed with the way Disney promoted this movie. They said it was “starring kevin, nick and joe jonas featuring demi lovato” and there was only 5 mins of kevin and nick in the movie. Their characters weren’t even originally in the script but when joe got the part they were written i so that disney could benifit from the cash cow that is JB.

I was so excited for this movie that without thinking i bought the soundtrack the day it came out and now i regret it. I only like 3 songs on the soundtrack and I have wasted my money. :( I have watched it 3 times in hopes that itwould grow on me but it hasnt. It’s ok to watch once or twice but after that there’s no point. EXCEPT for watching joe get out of the lake soaking wet…OMJ that was the only good part of the movie haha

Overall it was just ok. I only watched it because the jonas brothers were in it and that’s about it. I’m still a huge fan of their and I cant wait to see them on tour thi summer :)

p.s. their new single ‘burnin up’ is really good. i can’t stop listening to it. Although i can see what some people are saying about how it sounds like maroon 5-makes me wonder. Maroon 5 just happened to be my favorite band, [even more then JB..sorry boys :( ] and thats probably why i like the song so much and of course it doesnt hurt that joe looks AMAZINGLY SEXY in the vid! lol

  18. ycuevas Says:

i did like camp rock it was cute. the acting might have been a little dramatic at times and the dancing im sorry but shouldn’t even be compared to HSM. disney does have a habit of repeating their work and people eventually get sick of it. i did like some of the songs but i agree with the part of mitchie (demi) waking up so happy (who the heck wakes up that happy to go to school, i’m sorry but no that doesnt happen).the movie also shouldn’t have been announced as a jobros movie because they weren’t even in the movie that long. i will admit i did like kevin acting stupid it made me laugh everytime he would talk about the birdhouse, and joe acting like a jerk was pretty funny. but the movie wasn’t bad considering it was a tv movie. but i’ll continue to watch disney stuff because its just my guilty pleasure and i am 20 yrs old but i can’t help it i’m a kid at heart.

ps. i hope cg3 is better than this because the dance numbers seem pretty big and the setting looks so exotic, so hopefully it won’t disappoint. i also wonder how they are going to explain what happened to the other character played by raven.

  19. christina_oh Says:

The entire time I watched this I was like “Quote me Buck, Quote me Buck, Quote me Buck..” But I guess mine was a little on the harsh side, and plus my review was pretty consistent with the general consensus. I still love you though Buck.

    :]

  20. mkgtweety Says:

the movie waz like every other teen movie!!!!!!! boy or gurl doesn’t fit in kid thinks of sumthing kewl ’bout him then it sum how catches up w/ him!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove the vid!!!!!!!!!!! mkgtweety

  21. skelly Says:

I think the movie did have some good parts, but it did have some bad parts too. I thought the story line was really unoriginal and overly predictable, but sometimes I liked it. I thought the music was good though. The choreography wasn’t anything special. I think the end of the movie was a little long. I was just waiting for the movie to end, I mean we all knew everything would turn out for the better. It’s a disney movie! It was really over hyped. I think we all were expecting too much from it. For a disney tv movie, it was really good. But it’s always going to be compared to high school musical, and high school musical is going to win.

  22. pinkprincess81992 Says:

The movie had some good parts but it wasn’t the best movie i’ve seen. You could tell what was going to happen in the end and Joe overdid the acting. I thought that demi smiled way too much. I was like i don’t need to see all your teeth. Her mouth opens 2 wide. I was kinda of sad that there wasn’t a kiss. I thought that their was going to be one and then it just ended with them smiling at each other. I can smile 2. I do it everyday. Tess pissed off!!! She really was stalking Joe and then in the end she just runs off crying. Kevin needs to take some acting lessons. In hannah montana he was good but in camp rock, not really. I think that the problem with this movie is that they built it up to be some amazing movie and in the end it wasn’t that good. Now i am a fan of the jb but even they’ve got to say that it sucked. When demi and kathlen were at the wharf and she started smiling it really freaked me out. I think that my favorite character in the movie is the english dude, the camp director, brown. He made me laugh. WIth this movie i think you should watch it but don’t get really hyped up because it isn’t that good. I give it a C or 2 out of 4 stars.

  23. Niah Says:

Well, I didn’t watch most of the movie and I’m not really a Disney fan… but the movie was indeed lacking… well, everything. For example, I came on late in the video and saw that scene where the blondie chick was dissing Mitchie (or whatever) and I was screaming “Um, strangle her?!” No real person would just sit there and take it, I’d slap that -female dog- and kick her BWAHAHAHA. So, ya, it had that ridiculous Disney overtone “Oh, life always ends up the way you want it if you just believe and be yourself and crap” when, in reality, the whole movie was too convenient and over-all bland and unbelievable.

  24. superseabiscut Says:

i definitely agree with a lot of those reviews. it was cute and cheesy, like any disney movie, and of course i’ve already watched it twice, but somewhat disappointing. the acting all seemed really awkward and i was VERY mad that nick (and i guess kevin) wasn’t in it as much. i knew joe was the star of it and everything, but come on, if it’s advertised as a jonas brothers movie, they need to be in it together for more than like five minutes. as much as i love the jobros i have to say high school musical was better. it had better dancing and much catchier songs.

i’ll still end up buying it once it’s out on DVD though.
    :)

  25. tj18 Says:

well i personally liked it.. but it just didnt exactly come up to the standerds that it was put to… i was really hopin for more jb scenes especilly wit the other two cuz they didnt get a lot of scenes but when they were on i thought that they were really funny especially at the beginnin with nick and his get a tan thing that was pretty funny cuz he kept a straight face… and it was pretty funny how kevin was on the ditzy side… but i think the music was the best part about the movie :)

  26. awoller Says:

I think, overall, all the bad acting, lip syncing, etc. could have been canceled out if the plot hadn’t been so all over the place. It was cheesy and you could clearly see the cliches, but it was really hard to tell which cliche they were going for. My big problem was the scene where blonde, mean girl (see, I don’t even remember her name) finds Michi’s book of songs. I thought she was going to steal the song and try to convince Joe that she was the girl with the voice. But that scene really had no point at all. Sure you could argue that it was her figuring out it was Michi, but did that matter at all to the plot?

The one other thing I thought was horrible, was the development of the relationship between Michi and Joe. They just kind of would see each other, and then all of the sudden they’re friends. They have one conversation and then he’s singing to her. Plus, did he ever find out it was her in the kitchen.

The movie was worth watching once, but I’m not sure if I could sit through it again. 2/5 stars from me.

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

So the part that everyone says is pointless where tess takes mitchie’s notebook and reads her song isn’t that pointless because i just saw the movie and after tess reads mitchie’s song she says “oh mitchie you’re never going to see final jam” and then looks down at her charm bracelet. That’s why later on she accuses them of stealing her bracelet hence her looking down at her bracelet because she knows that if they’re accused of stealing they won’t be able to perform in the final jam. After watching the movie a few times it does get better and some of the scenes actually aren’t pointless. However also after watching the movie again i realized that not only do the other two jonas brothers not have many parts, but they have the least amount of parts than all of them including the drummer guy andy.

  27. KellySue69 Says:

Well my review is pretty much just like everyone else’s in your video. It was a big disappointment and I barely watched it cuz my sattelite dish kept going out cuz of the thunderstorm, but from what I had already seen I didn’t feel the need to watch it for its entirety. The whole JB part, Joe in a bathing suit, didn’t phase me at all, but maybe that’s because I’m a 16 year old lesbian LOL. I only really watched for Demi (pronounced like the DE in ‘den’ hehe) and Alyson Stoner. Alyson didn’t get too much credit, though, and she was probably the best actor/actress in the whole movie. Demi’s smile has always bothered me, it’s funny that you pointed it out. Though Demi’s crying scenes did make me tear up, and like someone else already posted, want to go through the screen and give her a big hug. The songs weren’t catchy that much but I did find myself doing some moves from the song ‘Camp Rock’ at the end haha. I know I won’t be buying the soundtrack, though. Now what I have to look forward to is Miley’s new album dropping July 26th. =D
Anyway, Camp Rock was definitely a rip off of HSM and a bad one at that. I actually liked HSM 1 & 2. I give it a C-, and that’s being generous.

    KellySue69 reply on June 23, 2008:

oh oh and as for the Burnin’ Up video, I only watched for Selena Gomez. XD
I knew it reminded me of a Maroon 5 song! Thanks for mentioning that. It was pretty funny, though, and I laughed out loud when their body guard started rapping hahahaha. The song is eh, not my favorite by them, but it’s alright.

  28. ludolover13 Says:

i personally havent seen the movie yet, and i wasnt planning on adding it to my to do list… i know! how out of it am i? but after seeing all of these peoples reviews, and hearing what you had to say i so have to see it! <33

  29. jbroxs1116 Says:

I love the Jonas Brothers but i hated it! I like Hsm way better! They make it sound like it all about the Jonas Brother when it mostly about Joe and a few scenes with Kevin and Nick! I think that why people watch it cuz they thought it was all about the Jonas brothers and for the Joe shirtless scene my favorite part! i didnt get the plot why did the mean girl steal Demi’s song book if she wasnt doing to take the song. It would have been something Sharpay would have done! But Kevin was funny you always need a stupid clueless character and unlike hsm they had so many characters in camp rock it was hard to keep track and when demi and joe are done singing the stare at each other for a minute atlest make it look like they were going to kiss!

  30. michigurl2 Says:

the movie wasnt like i hoped it was going to be i was a little disapointing it will never be as good as hsm and i dont like that girl demi lovato

  31. michigurl2 Says:

    i would give the movie a d+

  32. retrochicxxoo Says:

    haha
    welllll..
    the movie wasnt that great.
    it was okay.
    demi cant act..
joe is probably the best actor compared to his brothers
joe was burnin up haha during his “pool” scene
kevin was okay..but i think he was better than nick
    demi needs to smile less
    andd
    the choreography is horrible.
and the lipsyncing is horrible too
    but overall..i liked it.
    joe created that movie =)
    i love him

  33. ash_ Says:

Let me start off by saying how creepy Kevin is. I kept getting this child molester vibe off of him, and I’m probably right. Jesus he’s scary. When I wasn’t cowering in fear of him, I was laughing at how awful his acting was.

I think the real problem with the movie was that the timeline was out of whack and went by too fast. I mean, the actual movie seemed like it took forever to end, but it seemed like the way it was written it was just really clunky junky and hard to follow.

Example: I was in a hotel, we ordered room service, so I got up for one minute to let the guy in. After I came back, Joe was all “You’ve lied to me ALL summer.” I only remember them talking once by the lake, but maybe I just missed something in that 60 seconds.

I also didn’t understand why he’s so angry angry angst boy to everyone but Itchie Mitchie. He hates everyone else, but when he sees her, he absolutely must play his song for her while she grins like a drooling idiot.

I was really lost as to why Tess pulled out Itchie Mitchie’s book of songs from under her mattress and took it. She didn’t sing any of her songs, did she? I don’t see why she had to take the book if it didn’t serve any significance.

I didn’t like Peggy. It seemed like at the very end they realized they needed some life changing event to tie it up, so they stuck her on the stage with a guitar.

I also don’t know what happened to that chick Lola. She disappeared after her weird dance and never showed up again.

The saddest part was that I kept comparing it to the Little Mermaid in my mind. I know, I know. It’s a Disney classic, and this is a rip off of HSM that has been pooped on. However, like I said on Twitter, the whole “I heard a girl singing and now I have to find her so I can fall in LURVE” thing was really similar. Though if Joe wants to be Prince Eric he needs to fix his eyebrows.

Overall, the music wasn’t very good, and I felt like you really couldn’t call if a musical because it didn’t seem like there were that many songs. Just that one repeating over and over again about how Itchie’s happy or whatever being her. The last song was awful, and I was already sick of it from hearing it on the commercials leading up to the movie. I mean really, who wrote this? I can do loads better. Disney, call me.

  34. JBLUVURR Says:

kay so i actually thought it was good but not as good as i wanted it to be. i think that it was built up to be better than it was. there def wasnt enuff of kevin and nick, and i hope in camp rock 2 there needs to be more. i thought kevin was really funny, but he does need acting lessons. everything in the movie is over played. like when they all find out that demi lies about her mom everyone in the camp hates her. in real life there is no way that would happen. i mean i understand that shane you be mad becuase he told her everything and thought she was now going to sell it all to a magazine but everyone else? no way. and buck i so agree with you that the best scene was joe’s shirtless scene. :D

  35. KaleyRittichier Says:

I had my mind set that it was not going to be not that good. GBecause the song “we rock”
sounded A little weird (like little kids wanting to be pop stars). So it was better then I thought it would be.

Tut they need to pick what age they are going after age of the jb fans or the 7 year olds.

    P.S. Needed more Jonas!!

  36. JenaB Says:

I tottaly agree with most of these comments, I really liked the parts with Kevin and Nick, those were actually funny, also i liked it waaay better when Joe was nice, and not all mean and snotty like in the start.

    JB is my inishals, haha.

    JenaB

  37. hsmismylover Says:

Okay i totally agree with your review i felt the movie was too cheesy and it sucked big time yea it had it’s moments but i felt that it was a fake copy of hsm tess and sharpay so much in common except that sharpay can sing. they started selling merchandise (i saw it at target) they have these horrible dolls and sheets i just think they are over promoting this i mean hsm didn’t start pumping merchandise till like 3 months later camp rock was a flop (whatever major loser) i mean the lip sync and the dancing were HORRIBLE they were in desperate need of Kenny Ortega if i could get a refund for watching it i would i just felt like disney couldn’t come up with anything better. CAMP ROCK LET’S NOT i give it a D- yeah it was that bad

hsmismylover reply on June 23, 2008:

oh and one more thing what kind of whack ending was that you are leading little childeren into thinking it’s okay to lie about your life because in the end everyone has a magically heart turn around and becomes nice and gives hugs and say you did really good and become friends forever i don’t think that really happens in real life

  38. antmlover598 Says:

LOL!!! “It’s hard to read lines that are that…..bad”

I watched it at a sleepover, and kept on talking back to the TV. I honestly had no clue why within the first 3 minutes, Itchy Mitchie got let into Camp Rock. I mean, atleast give that problem 5 minutes to get solved! As for the Jonas Brothers acting, I was really quite happy that 2 of them had nothing to do with it. That would be damn torture. Joe (who did act) did…Well, the lines that he was given were really really terrible llines. But then again, that doesn’t completely excuse the fact that he’s a bad actor. Bitch, you can sing, but, dammit, you can’t act.

All in all, I’d give it a C (1 and a half stars). It really wasn’t as great as everyone thought it would be (everyone being me, of course).

For a movie that was all about Music- I think it wasn’t very good.

My friends and I had a little get together and watched it-laughing most of the time. Most of it just didn’t add up. Sometimes little things can make the movie- along with good acting (which Camp Rock didn’t have).

The “drummer dude” did you see him actually practice on a drum once? No. And when he did his rolls, he wasn’t very good.
They show one person singing (Joe at the Lake) and you can hear the back up voices.
Peggy at the end…could NOT play the guitar AT ALL. It was not even close to believeable…and the movie is about “finding your sound…” someone should have at least coached her on it.
Tess…why did she even pick up Mitchie’s book? That made no sense. I totally thought I missed something.

I thought that it was cheezy–in a good way. But they did play up the JoBros WAY too much. I would have liked to see more of Nick and Kevin…though Kevin can NOT act that well. Demi is a wonderful singer– actress not so much– and her smile is weird because she used to have a gap in her teeth so when they fixed the front it made her teeth look huge and kind of cheesy. She smiled way too big.

The dancing wasn’t amazing…and I did expect more. But I watched mostly for the Jonas Brothers…so I’m biased…

And I totally agree with what Ash_ said.

  40. genevievexx3 Says:

Oh I thought the Jonas Brothers were great actors! Kevin made me laugh so hard, he was hilarious. I just wish him and Nick were in it more. You can tell that they were an afterthought. Personally, I thought Demi’s acting was cute. And I think she’s an AMAZING singer. The only songs I liked were “This Is Me”, “Gotta Find You”, and “Music’s in my Soul”. All of the other ones were weird and not planned out. I have a feeling that they werent quite finished with it, but Disney wanted it out in the summer. They should have waited. Overall, it wasn’t as good as I expected, but I thought JOnas Brothers and Demi Lovato were very good.

  41. jesuspunkrokr Says:

Well, what I saw I liked, I didn’t get to see the whole thing, I saw a little tiny part of the beginning, and when there was like 1 hour and 22 min left I picked back up on it,
The songs… I didn’t really like… I liked the one Demi sang”this is me”…( I dunno how to say her name either, haha)
I think the other two brothers being in it kind of made it weird. But this was really the first time I had seen the JB for more than like 2 seconds on a commercial or something, so I didn’t really care about them, lol.

I didn’t like the writing on the movie at all, it was really corny, I think the actors did what they could with it though, it wasn’t terrible acting except for the freakin’ rich/popular girl, just yuck, thats her new name, lol..

over all it was cute, had a good storyline, but bad writing. I liked it but didn’t love it. I would watch it again though.

Hey girl hey!! hahaha oh Tila is soo nast!
anyway! I LOOOOVED Camp Rock!! I mean i’m a HUGE HSM1&2 i mean hello i’m gonna me in HSM4! hahaha but anyway i did love “This Is ME” and then the combined song with Demi and Joe!! That’s the SONG! hahahaha yeah i totally agree it was trying to be too much like HSM with the diva-geeky girl roles!! But this wasn’t a musical it was just a movie that had music in it!! but yeah the songs are great! And Kevin being like a total airhead was kinda weird and funny! lol but yeah i bought the soundtrack and i looved it! it’s cheesy and Disney Channel! So i’m all game! hahaha
    love you mean it-
    Lauren

P.S. fav line in the whole movie “BTW your lipgloss isn’t glossy anymore!” bahaha!

  43. hcx0bbz Says:

This seriously was the most retarded thing i have ever seen. I was not even expecting it to be good, but i thought it would have been better than it actually was. I seriously never watch Disney, but i was over at a friends and she forced me to watch it, even IF she had already seen it 10 TIMES! They over stimulated the movie. I mean you can buy camp rock furnature (mind any wrong spellings). Who wants that? Disney is going all out to cover up what Miley did wrong. And Disney did plan for this to be bigger than HSM because of JB it was dissipointing to us all. I was getting so annoyed about the HSM and HM EVERYTHING. It was pretty aggravting going to Disney World and seeing HSM in the gift shop. -_- So anywayyyyy I was hoping somthing new and BETTER, but as me and many others seemed to be disipointed by the lack of orginality. Disney was good, but now…its just….retarded

    (Sorry for being politcally incorrect)

I haven’t seen it and didn’t really plan on it but I might give it a look see.

overall, it was a disapointment. the jonas brothers (who i dont really care for) should stick to music because its something that they are actually fairly good at.

  46. trixietang18 Says:

Disney tried soooooooo hard to make another HSM! They didnt.
everything went so fast! joe is a good actor but she talked once with Mitchie and he changed!? that’s completely impossible!!! He was like the biggest jerk in the planet and then this girl tells him that she likes her music and BAM! he’s super nice! I would have liked to see his character like a jerk until like half of the movie.

Nick and Kevin were on like 3 seconds!!! that was so disappointing. Disney clearly wanted to make money by saying that this was a JB movie but it was a Demi movie!
Demi is a really good singer but she’s NOT a good actress! Her smile is so creepy!! I dont like this miley cyrus wannabe!

The music wasnt as good and catchy as the one in HSM 1 and 2. Hasta la vista was good. Too Cool was too wannabe Sharpay. Meaghan Martin is a good actress but she and the Jonas Brothers are the only people with talent in this movie. What were the casting directors thinking!?

And what’s with that Peggy girl? I didnt get something about her. Her name is Margaret and everyone calls her Peggy? WTF!! And she sooooooo cant play the guitar!!! why didnt she only sing and stop pretending she played an instrument!

The movie is a little annoying and to be honest half of the people who saw it wouldnt have if the Jonas Brothers were’nt in it!

  47. ohxmyxsavannahx Says:

Buck your youtube vid. says a little bit longer dropps august 20th.

    Camp Rock was not good.
I dont mind that there was hardly and Nick and Kevin, whatever. But like, the only good songs were the ones with JB or Demi in them.

It was bad choreography and lip synching. The timeline sucked and like, it was a badly written plot. Seriously.
Demi does smile really big alot but you cant deny that she is gorgeous!
Camp rock gets better when you watch it like six times. Ive seen it three and I like it alot more now.
High school musical 1 and 2 were still better. And the third I bet will be better too.

  48. ashlynn61292 Says:

I was really exited about Camp Rock. I love the Jonas Brothers and I was looking forward to watching Demi Lovato, but as much as I want to love this movie, it just didn’t cut it. I’ll break this down piece by peice:

Demi/Mitchie - My cheeks were hurting from watching her smile, haha, but thats ok. Her acting wasn’t amazing, but it didn’t suck either. One scene that I didn’t like was when she was singing at Final Jam. It was too over the top, and it didn’t look real. She does have a really good singing voice, though.

Joe/Shane - Shirtless scene = HOT!!! That was the best scene!! His acting seemed too over the top, too. And he went from being a jerk to being really nice in less that 5 minutes. It was pretty unrealistic. He needs to take acting lessons as well.

Alison/Kaitlynn - I liked her character. She is a good actress, and I thought she did a good job. The writers could have used her acting skills to thier advantage, but they didn’t.

Tess - She wasn’t the right actress to cast as the “bitch”. It was very unconvincing. It was like she was trying too hard to be mean, and it just didn’t work. The scene when she sees her mom on the phone was blown WAY out of proportion, but I guess that was the writers’s fault.

Nick & Kevin - I actually thought some of Kevin’s lines were funny, in a cheesy way, but the delivery made them just cheesy. Nick was a little too bland. He could have had more emotion. Sorry JB, but you guys need to take acting classes…but you’re still hot!!!

Music - Honestly, I hated most of the songs. The only ones I liked were Demi’s song “This is Me” and Shane’s “You’re the voice I hear inside my head..” which was the same song but with different lyrics.

Choreography - Well, it sucked…a lot. There’s not really anything else to say about that.

Overall - The plot was kind of boring, but wasn’t that bad. Everything felt rushed. I really wished Mitchie and Shane would have kissed, but that’s just me. Tess could have been more convincing, her crew was alright. I’d rank this movie a 9/10 on the cheesy-ness scale. Acting was not that great. I wouldn’t want to buy the sountrack. The disappointment came from the fact that everyone was expecting the movie to be on the same level as HSM, but it just wasn’t. It’s Disney’s fault, however. There was a very slim chance that anything would be better than HSM. Disney took that risk and it backfired. I would give this movie a 5/10. It’s ok to see once, but I wouldn’t really care if I saw it againg or not.

emlale reply on June 23, 2008:

well it didn’t backfire because it beat out HSM in the ratings!

  49. Roihu Says:

Can’t give too much of a review, since I KNOW I had more, but forgot all of the reasons.
All the problems I had with the movie…
Like antmlover598 said, one of the main things that bothered me was how Itchy’s problem got solved within the first couple of minutes.
    So my complaints are:
    -Crappy crying.
    -Extremely too way overused plot.
-Why did Tess pick up Itchy’s song journal? I mean, I would understand if she used it to win Shane’s heart, but nothing happened concerning that after that scene.
(This next one may be confusing, since it was confusing for me also.)
-He’s looking for the girl with the ‘voice’, and he gets angry with her without knowing who she was. Also, all summer is just like less than a week with them meeting like 2 or 3 times, right? When Shane finds out the girl he was angry with, he instantly becomes unangry and makes up with her just because she has the voice he wanted?
What kind of fudged up world are they living in?
-Tess. I mean, some people don’t even HAVE parents, but you don’t see them being bitches to everyone else. (Yes, I know that they are two different things, but the message is the same.) Then, after all that, she instantly becomes nice.
-As Buck said, why was Peggy crying at the end? The only reason I came up with was her being abused by Tess.

Though, I don’t know why people say HSM is better than this. As many faults as this movie has, I think Camp Rock is better than HSM.
Actually, I think as much as I hate HSM, it is better than Camp Rock. (Before I only like Camp Rock cause of it’s decent music compared to HSM.)
I mean, come on, HSM2 isn’t even in High School and HSM3 I’ve heard from a friend is in COLLEGE.
But yeah, I give Camp Rock a 2/5.

ohmyjonas reply on June 23, 2008:

I think Tess picked up Itchie’s journal to see for sure if Shane was singing her song.

And did it bother anyone else she had NO MIC! and she was SO FAKE PLYING THE GUITAR!

    I hate the black girl.
I think disney did it on purpose.

Roihu reply on June 23, 2008:

I mean, there was more than just a guitar in that song if I remember right.

emlale reply on June 23, 2008:

well you don’t really sing or play instruments in a movie…they have the backing tape and you’re supposed to lip sync and fake play. so i think she did good with what she was given. but i didn’t like that she moved so much

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

no jasmine richards, the black girl in the movie named peggy, she actually recorded the song but they chose for renee sandstrom to sing it which i think is wrong if renee’s not even in the movie.

  52. autumn_jonas7 Says:

well… i liked it a lot! i thought it was really good… i mean of course it was predictable! it was a disney movie. what did you all expect? i agree with some of the people though… they did advertise this as a mostly jonas brothers movie and it was definitely more demi lovato than anything. but she is an awesome singer so it was ok. as for the acting… same thing, we all have to remember that it is disney channel… and no one on disney channel is exactly oscar worthy. i still liked it better than both of the high school musical movies because their acting is pretty bad too. the songs in this movie were really good too. but like a lot of girls i mostly watched it for the jonas brothers. i think joe did pretty good considering the whole disney thing… and pretty much no matter what anyone says i think it was a good movie.

emlale reply on June 23, 2008:

exactly. i think it was way better than the first HSM. i mean i like HSM but HSM 2 blew the first one out of the water. and i’m sure the second CR will blow the first out of the water.

they need to come back to the camp and have a romance between joe and demi. and have nick and kevin come to the camp to teach some classes as well.

  53. nickjonasgirlbrebrey Says:

i loved camp rock joe jonas was hot i know it was kinda sloppy but i liked it it was great it was good and nick and kevin should of been in it more.

  54. Nessa Says:

-i love the jonas brothers, and think they should have been in it a lot more.
-the writters and director could have spent a little more time working on the film.
-in the sence where kevin and nick were by the pool side, i kept staring at nicks shorts because they looked extreamly short.
-i thought that it was really obivious that they were lip-syncing, especially when demi and joe were sitting by the lake. and you could here that there were backup vocals, which bugged me.
-the only reason they publisised(spell check) jonas brothers as the main point was so it could get more views, probably cuz they know it wouldn’t have done as well, but i’m kinda glad that they weren’t brothers in the movie and it was just joe most of the time.
-all of the songs had the same meaning. they should of had more to it then just trying to find yourself.
-they should have told peggies story a bit more(and everyone elses) so we could know why she was crying.
-i’m really glad that they chose ppl who were actually the age they were supposed to be, unlike high school musical where everyones like 20 playing a 16 year old, well except kevin but he wasn’t in the movie as much.
-it would have been more interesting if tess pretended to be the girl that shane heard playing the song, seeing as she heard shane sing part of it.
    - and at the end peggy was Not playing guitar at all, seriously they should have just let her go out there WITHOUT the guitar.
-and at the begining i know its the last day of school but serisously who’s ever that happy.
-they should have had more acts going up on the stage then just those few, i mean there were a lot of ppl there, they should have at least shown like a montage or whatever its called of more ppl playing and then just show the main acts. at the final jam they only had two acts go up and then they said it was over, but then peggy went.
-im glad they didn’t get kennie ortaga to choreograph, but they should have gotten a better choreographer.
-i don’t think kevins a good actor, but he was funny.
-i hate that they used the word bling.
    -the acting didn’t seem natural.
-i love it because i like all of the ppl in the movie, i thought that they were for the most part good for their charatcters, but i hate to say it, HSM was better planed out and scripted then this, and i REALLY REALLY HATE HSM.

theres probably more things that bug me about this movie, but those are just the main things.

    =D

  56. PookiePoohBear Says:

I totally agreed with you…the plot was flimsy and their were some VERY unnecessary scenes. For example, when Tess found Mitchie’s songbook I completely thought she was going to go sing it for Joe/Shane (while he was searching for Mitchie based on her song). Then she did NOTHING with it! Wtf? It kind of reminded me of some kind of intracite murder mystery with false leads all over the place…but the rest of the plot and dialogue were so stupid I am forced to think it was some kind of mistake. Also, it didn’t really make sense that everyone just forgave Mitchie in the end because they liked her song…seriously, they all heard it before. I was also hoping that they would do something crazy with Joe’s hair, because he was all “Oh no, I’m running out of hair product” in the beginning but then it stayed the same the whole movie. And Tess getting all nice at the end kind of reminded me of when Nate got all nice on Gossip Girl (TV) for no apparent reason (anyone else notice that?). I totally felt like I’d already heard all the songs because they were so generic, even though I appreciated their attempts to include some hip hop music. The choreography was also pretty lame, which (for me) was one of the main reasons why it was worse than High School Musical.

  57. darksora89 Says:

I wasn’t planning on watching this movie until I saw the What The Buck video on it on Youtube…so I gave it a shot and…ergh..

I wasn’t able to get even halfway.
I’m not a Jonas Brothers fan at all…and Disney channel has been annoying me for awhile now, how they keep churning out repetitive and unoriginal stuff…

I gotta admit, I did like High School Musical (the first way more than the second, which I was never able to watch all the way through in one sitting) and I didn’t want to like that movie. But it pulled off the cheesy and made it adorable and entertaining.

But dang. Demi can’t act. She tries, yay, but I would’ve watched more if it wasn’t such bad acting. Along with everyone else’s acting… and well, the lines they had were pretty lame anyway.

As has been said many times, yup–too many smiles…her full smile almost makes her look pained and that also annoys.
Btw, she woke up with lip gloss on. Seriously? And how old are these kids, because it seems like the girls have way too much make up on. Woo, be the real you girls!

Anyway, maaaaybe I’ll eventually watch the whole thing but I really just couldn’t sit through that.

  60. jonasfan428 Says:

I thought that Camp Rock was going to be way better than it was. I am a huge Jonas Brothers fan but I still didn’t think it was that great. Joe, Demi and Alyson Stoner had pretty good acting, but the rest was pretty bad. I didn’t really get when Joe was alone on the dock singing to Demi and there was another voice singing harmony with him. . I thought the writing/directing was really bad. The movie seemed really short because it only seemed like they had been at Camp Rock for like a few days. They did a horrible job of showing how time was passing. The ending was predictible and I thought it was kinda weird how Tess just suddenly became nice. I really liked the singing and most of the music and I have already seen it twice and I think I will see it again. It was pretty good, just not as good as we all expected.

hatingme reply on June 23, 2008:

I think the movie is a one time see movie.
I got really disappointed when i watched cus they got really bad writers and choreographers. The story seemed like a cliche to me and i was hoping for Tess to do some bitchin in that movie but sadly she did not. It was also really annoying how they said JERK like a bazillion times.
Demi needs to smile less!!!!!!!!!!!! She is not pretty, but i respect her cus her voice but her acting ROTFL!!!! get some lessons girl.
Joe jonas did a good job, but Nick and Kevin were there for like 15 minutes. :(
And disney is so very much hilarious, i love how they made kevin play the gay/retarded of CONNECT 3.
There was actually a kiss scene (on the cheek after this is me, this is real/gotta find you) but some how disney decided to cut it off the movie. Maybe because Demi could have been murder by a crazy obsess Jonas Fan on the street if they did show it.
The songs are really good but sadly they all sound extremely computerized.
I also think people shouldn’t be comparing camp rock to HSM cus they are totally different, simply by the fact that camp rock isn’t a musical.

In camp rock 2, all the jonas brothers will have equal on screen time, and Frankie the “Bonus Jonas” will be there also. GREAT !…
Seriously why can’t disney just leave the happy ending of the movie?
Sequels always suck! they have to do HSM2, TCG3, CR2 blah blah blah…

When I first heard about this movie, I went back to visions of how I loved High School Musical and was in love with the soundtrack for a year. I was not expecting this to be a great movie. I was expecting it to be something similar to High School Musical. But anything that is in any way, shape, or form similar to High School Musical must be equally awesome, right?

    Wrong.

The storyline of this movie was probably the worst part about it. I watched it with my sister on the Monday before it came out on On Demand. I noticed as the film progressed, the plot began to decline even more and more. *Sigh* At this point I am waiting for the movie to be over. Sad thing is, Itchie just got to Camp Rock. Now Moving on to the Music.

This music was…OK. That’s about all I can say about it. I am not a huge JB fan to start with, and the songs that they sang in this movie were no better than my opinions to their past songs. Demi Levato was a decent singer, but not good enough to pull the slack from the rest of the generic characters that nobody really cares about.

The acting…was…TERRIBLE!! All of the JBs are bad actors, Demi is OK, and the only good actor in my opinion was the person who wanted to be a music producer and Tess. That’s about it. I CAN’T BELIEVE that they think they can make another movie. Oh well. A 45% for the Camp Rock Stars.

No, you don’t really rock. =(

ok, first of all, where is the coreography????? and what is up with the bad lipsyncing?????
second, Demi’s smiles… arghhhhhhh.. when i saw her smiling for the first time i was thinking, wow, she has a beautiful smile! but then every time she was on camera she smiled. and smiled. and smiled again. on the sad scenes when you think she’s not going to smile, BAAMM, she smiles again. Boy, was that annoying.
i thought the cast was weird. when i first watched HSM i was able to remember all names afterwards, and i’ve watched camp rock 3 times already and i still have no idea what most of them are called..
to be honest, alyson stoner was the only real actress there.
but do you really care how much it sucks? let’s be honest, we’re there for JB. kinda disappointing that they weren’t in it as much as they should have been.
can i just say how weird i thought it was that when mitchie and kaitlin were by the lake, near the end, kaitlin’s laptop was nearly IN the river. i mean, come on, who does that?
i dont get what was up with Tess. i mean she got hold of Mitchie’s book of songs, and what did she do about it? a good villain would have used it for evil lol! well, what about when she ran off the stage in the end, and started to “cry”. OMG. wtf? i could hear the sobs, i could see her wiping the tears away so her mascara wouldn’t run, but i think she forgot something…. THE TEARS! that was the fakest crying i have ever seen. she could have hidden her face/eyes with her hands or something so it would look a bit more real…
all in all i agree with the last review, worth watching, but disappointing. But you know what? i cant wait for the sequel!
lets hope they’ve read all these bad reviews ibto account so they dont do the same mistakes next time!

Okay. OMG. This movie was horrible! I don’t really have anything else to say that has already been told, but when Margaret - or what ever her name is - started singing her song, I kept laughing at her attempt in lip-syncing and her ‘guitar playing’. I kept laughing throughout the song. It was so fake! WTF! She just could of sang without the stupid guitar.

When Mitchie had hier grand appearance during the end of the movie, it took Shayne like almost half of the song to realize the frickin voice. Also, I kept laughing at him when he made a blind attempt to take the mike from his uncle. I could almost hear him say “Ehhhh where’s the stupid mike!”

Overall, bad movie. I didn’t want to watch it but a friend of mine made me watch it (a JB fan). Acting was horrible.

Is it me, or everytime Mitchie gets close to Shayne, you just want to punch her out? Seriously.

Bad song, but pretty good voices.

It was another 2 hours of my life wasted. Thank you, Disney.

  67. brilliantstoryteller Says:

I think this was actually a pretty good movie. This might be because I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting it to be a disaster and it really wasn’t. I was expecting it be a ‘HSM goes outdoors and doesn’t really do anything of any signifacance’ movie but it separated itself from the HSM series and it had a different story to tell which gets major points from me.
It was a different story and though it was very cheesy and Disney-like, I think the characters really pulled you in and made you sympathize with them. I don’t get how no one knows Peggy! Gosh guys, pay more attetion! She’s the black girl who sings at the end and she has been there the whole time behind Tess ready to burst and I was so happy for her when she finally got to sing!
The acting wasn’t great but there were hot guys saying it which was supposed to distract you! Didn’t you get the memo? It’s okay if you can’t act as long as you have a pretty smile! Anyway, Disney Channel isn’t there to povide everyone quality entertainment, it’s there to give young kids inspiration and catch their attention with fun songs and cute actors! So why don’t we all get on the bandwagon, write our own cheesy musicals and send it in to Disney!

I hated the movie I watched it to what the big stick was about and it failed epically the the songs sucked and the acting was worse the dancing was bad as well but was over shadowed by the acting and singing teen girls must have something “Special” about them to like them Im soo glad im out of that part of my life the only one thats cute is the middle one the older one is homely looking the younger on nees to lose the fake fro thing he had im never watching them again sorry JB fans

  69. OMJbuckshott Says:

I LOVED the movie but i am probobly the most biased person in the universe. i loved joe without a shirt, and any scene with the other brothers. demi was good for a disney movie, not bad at all. People that I know would rather watch CR than HSM because it involves the jonas brothers, but i guess thats just cuz DC girls are tight like Joe Jonas’s pants. if i bought tickets to a JB concert would you come with me???? then you could review them from the REAL experience!! i love jb and buck <3

  70. hatingme Says:

when a movie is really good, all credit goes to actors. hardly anyone gives credit to directors, producers etc. and in this movie people are putting it all on bad acting. i agree it isnt the best acting i’ve ever seen but if direction was different and scripts it would have been a much much much better movie.

  71. SarahStubble Says:

Ok so I watched camp rock 4 times already and I have it recorded on like those old fashion VCRs. I know your jellin. Any-hoe Itchy, there is something about her smile that puts me off, in the being she smiled way to much and what person wakes up to perfect hair, and who wakes up at 12pm for school. Was it just me or was the room looked like she was outside. Know my room is facing east and its not that bright. I am not a big fan of pre-teens in heat… Or as you call them The Jonas brothers, but Joe did pretty good with the script they gave him. At some parts I was wondering what the hell am I watching then at other part it was ok. I made me mad when someone would be singing and there was drums when clearly there was none. Tess was weird and when she did too cool I couldn’t stand watching her shoulder, it was like and elastic anorexic thing. Then Peggy fast forward it after the first time watching it, it was bad and she wants even playing the gutair. The music for the movie was pretty rad I have Music is my soul stuck in my head… and I have about 4 songs memorized. I know sad. However, that is ok I think Kevin and Michelle characters were the same, stupid and not all there. The scrip was bad, but I do not know if it was just me but my heart fluttered when Joe sang to Itchy at the dock and when they did their song together. Nevertheless, I could have been the fact that like a zillion years apart. I hate when they do dancing in movies where everyone knows the steps within the first 2 seconds of the song. So that hip hop class was a no, no. So my verdict for the movie is the most Fantasmical thing ever.

  72. naybay143 Says:

didnt like it that much the Joe Bros didnt do that much in the movie not that i was even sad about that, Demi Lovato was pretty good in the movie she had a great voice and could sing. i thought that it was not great and that it was like HSM kind of a little too much and the take on this was “huge” im not sure Disney and other networks made a huge deal out of this since the Joe Bros “were in the movie a lot” kevin in my opinion like of see and acted like he was a little gay….or was that how he should have acted? who know…..Camp Rock had to much drama in it even for disney channel and it seemed to try to much in the singing and dancing part of the movie and didnt seem to be that all good just like the acting. could have been a better movie if they changed a lot of things.

kaetrina reply on July 1, 2008:

  73. littlemeow Says:

I was INCREDIBLY disappointed in Camp Rock.

The whole getting up in the morning and awkward off beat lip syncing and playing the keyboard to her morning CD… I think I would have liked to see the beginning scene of her dancing about lessened so we could see the parents try to get her to Camp Rock. Its was too easy.

Although she disses Shane Grey’s behavior discussed on the MTV-esque music show, he dominates the images in her locker (with a few wee pictures of the remaining JoBros). The set designer needs to read the script.

Then the wardrobe department. It is summer, why is poor Mitchie in long sleeves jeans and the mokisans? All of the kids look like its fall. And if Mitchie is so poor, why is it that she magically gets a green hoodie, shorts and white top matching the blonde’s other lemmings? Or the background singers silver dress? Common people!

Speaking of the lemmings, I felt that they needed to build them up more. Disney attempted to make them the Ryans of this film, but Ryan had more than 5 lines so we had a bit on insight into him and his world. If anything, Kevin Jonas played the Ryan. He was a bit dim…

Wouldn’t it have been better if they had a flashback to the JoBros at Camp back in the day? Or even Caitlyn back when she was a lemming?

The “Flour on the Face” scene was so pointless and weird.
Joe: I have food allergies! AHHHHHH!
    Flour Face: Stop your bitchin’!

Bleck. I feel like I am 7 again, walking out of the theatre after seeing Hunchback of Notre Dame and wondering,”WHAT THE BUCK?!” Even though I ridicule Zac Efron and his constant grapevine whilst snapping in all the HSM numbers, I would have loved to see that for every number instead of the “We Rock! Camp Rock!” dance that was a hotmess and certain camera angles reveal that they are out of sync with the music.

    AH!

There, my horrible review of an alright movie. also, they seemed to look past a lot of the sub plots they set up, for example the tess stealing demi’s song….

nickjisoffthechiain299 “im burning up for u babay)

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

i totally agree. they did absolutely nothing with the plot where tess steals mitchie’s song and another thing that made absolutely no sense was the fact that the character lola scott had no part in the final jam or finale of we rock and she and the drummer had more parts than the other two jo bros.

  75. torigirl218 Says:

I agree with basically everything you said. I kind of knew ahead of time that Kevin and Nick weren’t going to be in it that much, which I understand (since, like you said, they were written in after).
The whole vibe of the movie was off. It seemed kind of rushed.
We didn’t get to know the characters enough before being thrown into everything. Also, Mitchie’s behavior was rather strange. She was complaining about not having friends at school, yet she made a friend in Katelyn immediately but threw it away for the queen, Tess.
I agree that the dancing sucked, and the majority of the songs just weren’t good. I enjoyed all of the ones by Mitchie, Shane, and Connect 3. But even those were not in the same category as HSM songs. “We Rock” was a lame anthem for the movie, and didn’t have the spark that songs like “We’re All In This Together” and “What Time Is It?” possessed.
All of them need acting classes, but I think you made a valid point when you said that the writing wasn’t that great. I also found a lot of the scenes awkward as well, although I did enjoy the majority of the Shane/Mitchie scenes.
All in all, it was enjoyable. It just isn’t going to be as huge as they were expecting (which for me was a major issue as well…these people expecting the movie to do amazingly well because of JB and HSM/HSM 2). I think that Disney is wrong for trying to fabricate a franchise like this, instead of just trying different things to figure out what works (ie: Hannah Montana and HSM). It just doesn’t seem as genuine as HSM.

Are you going to review the “Burnin’ Up” music video at all? I definitely think you should, it would be great to hear what you think! I personally loved it, but Big Rob’s (Britney Spear’s ex-bodyguard) rapping was unnecessary. The original version of the song had a drum solo where the rapping is now, and I thought it was a better song. The video itself was amazing.

If you read all that, you deserve a cookie or something, haha

    Love you, Buck!

    torigirl218 reply on June 23, 2008:

I forgot to talk about the singing! I liked it a lot better than HSM. The Jonas Brothers and Demi all have really great voices, and I think they have much more musical talent than those in the HSM franchise. I saw Demi live recently, and she is incredible…in my opinion, shes even better live than in recordings. She blew me away. She also has improved greatly since filming CR (with how she moves on stage and stuff).

I also think that with more acting training, Demi could be really amazing.

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

    hahah.
    what i meant was
that i could tell the story wasn’t like well put together or anything
but at some parts I was thinking that if i rewrote it, it would be a good story and THEN it would be beautiful.
So some of the story had potential. [:

personally, i loved loved loved the movie
maybe cuz im a HUGE JB fan and just love singing and dancing and all disney movies like HSM but to me CR (camp rock) was better than HSM2 and maybe 1 HSM i think in 2 it was cheesy and kinda bad CR was amazing to me
i was a little bit disappointed in the end but thats what i guess the second comes in the ending of the duet was very very touching to me though
so i loved the movie kevin was hilarious i must say

I don’t know why but I just cried at the part where Shane came in on the song with Demi. I’m not obsessed with the Jo Bros much so it’s not like I was crying over them
i just thought that part was sweet.
that may be the only reason i like the movie lol.

  79. KayteeTah Says:

Camp rock…. I don’t know it I should like it or hate but I definitely didn’t love it.

People say Demi is going to be the next Miley but the only thing they seem to have in common is that they have dental problems. Demi is a good singer but when she was singing “who will I be” for the camp I was so distracted by her the strange way her mouth would move it’s like has a underbite.

The Jonas brothers definitely were not the main part of the movie it was just Joe and Mitchie. I Don’t think Kevin is a bad actor I think the lines written for him were pretty terrible. Joe is a decent actor and Nick seems alright but you can’t really tell since he had such a small part.

Overall this movie had the same exact plot as HSM but didn’t have whatever it is that made HSM so lovable and great. The music wasn’t fantastic but it wasn’t horrible. KENNY ORTEGA is a musical genius and if this movie had him it would have been a lot better. Anyways maybe they will get him for the second one.

kaetrina reply on July 1, 2008:

demi is so not the next miley, she just doesn’t have that shine that miley does. dontcha think? i kinda dislike miley, but she has that thing that makes yout want to look at her the first time you see her

  80. ohmyjonas Says:

I think you’re right with the sucky plot. It’s been done way too many times, but maybe they’ve ran out of things to make movies on? I thought it was just fun to laugh at the acting, especially the Jonas brothers. Their lines are so corny but they make it fun to watch!

  81. emlale Says:

i actually liked it. i know everybody says it wasn’t a great production and stuff. i mean the set didn’t really look like a “anybody who’s anybody” camp. if everyone goes there they should have had a little more high tech stuff. like the stage JB sang on was like a wooden box, but the final jam had a full out stage.

i thought joe did amazing with his lines. i really would never take him as an actor, but he did great! and i really thought kevin was hilarious. there was no bad acting there. that is the way his character is supposed to be…ditsy. and demi was great, i really felt her emotions through her acting.

and about everyone complaining that there wasn’t enough of the brothers in it. well the movie isn’t about them. it’s about demi and joe. i guess just promos through some people off, but if they had read the plot line before they probably would have known.

  82. Dana Says:

I liked Camp Rock more than HSM2. HSM2 I thought was a bigger let down, and felt more artificial.

disnaychannelfan reply on June 24, 2008:

i liked camp rock better than hsm aswell however hsm and the cheetah girls are two musicals that are very well polished as in the lip siging is good, the acting is good, the dancing is good, and the storyline all comes together however that may be because kenny is the director. who agrees?

  83. AddictedtoJonas91 Says:

Ok im not gunna lie and say this is my FAVORITE movie just because the Jonas Brothers were in it! I thought it was an all around pretty good movie but not the greatest. Like Buck said, I thought it was a little sloppy in spots. I personally blame the director and hope they get a new one for the second movie! The acting was great. Demi was amazing, and Joe pulled off the whole jerk thing very well! Id give it 4 out of 5 stars though!

    **
    -Watching Camp Rock on Disney.com
    Negatives.
..Demi Lovato, one word to describe her would be. Dirty, I mean that her hair is wack-o and messy.

..Alyson Stoner, should have played the part of Mitchie. She would have done a much better job.

..JB, the movie should have been an entire group project. Nick and Joe were not included in the movie as much as they should have been.

..In some parts of the movie the characters looked sweaty, im sure it was hot but honestly plug in a fan.

..Emily Osment would have done a much better part than Demi Lovato. Either her or Alyson Stoner to be Mitchie.

..Alyson Stoner did a great job at acting, she has been doing this acting thing for a long time. She should have been given the main part.

..When I watch the movie I feel as if it should be a tv show instead not sure why, but it doesnt fit the part of being a movie.

..Another thing. Mitchie?! what kind of a name is that.

    Positves
..When the characters sing, you know where the music is coming from. In HSM you never knew where the dang music was coming from in the background?!

..Joe Jonas, he actually did do a very good job with acting but it was just a little iffy.

..”We Rock” amazing song. It did better than 4 minutes. that says something.

    Confusion
..How did Shane know about Mitchie and her mom working at Hot Tunes?!
They didnt really, i dont know they should have uhmm. Well they just should have explained some things better.

..How did they all learn “we rock” soooo fast! they said it wasnt like a musical but that part was musicalish. Unless during the summer they practiced it or something, like I said they should have done more explaining.

    Mitchie and Shane
..I so badly wanted them to kiss!
Im a JB LOVER! and I really just wanted to see a Jobro Kiss someone so I know how they look and stuff when they do kiss someone :P

    Overall
..I loved the movie no matter what people say they know they loved it, it was corny and also amazing. With the way the Jonas brother’s sucsess is going nothing bad has happened during their career no scandelous pictures nothing..but this I have a feeling people will write about and they are going to say bad things about them and their acting….

  85. rickyriffle Says:

    it wasn’t that good

    Kevin..wtf?…make me a birdhouse..

    Nick…lame

Joe…bad actor as well, being a jerk was not believable

oh and this just sucks the actors were not well prepared, and the songs a little boring..most of the lyp syncing was so lame, the worst thing was when that bitchy blond is like they stole iT!!

seriously u can totally see she was lying

Demi was great..she has a great voice!

the thing i hated was that they really tried to be HSM, but they didn’t meet the standards,

when HSM2 came out i actually watched it like all the times it came out on Disney but CAmp Rock, after one time it was enough!

    overall i give it a 2.5/5

my sis love jonas bros, but they didn’t even like the movie..they were so into the previews going crazy, i asked if they liked it they were like no!

  86. josie33 Says:

Hey! I totally agree with you about everything. I noticed that when the actors were singing that the words did not go with their lips, also I thought that it was weird that Joe was really mean at the beginning, then after he heard Demi sing, he was all of a sudden really nice to everyone. I also thought it was weird how the dumb girl who hung out with the mean girl all of a sudden knew all of the dance steps and words to the song in the final jam. Also, at the final jam, they only had planned to have two performers, then the other girl sang, and then Demi sang. I thought that the parts when the actors were singing to each other was really awkward, like when Demi was singing to the mean girls. Another thing i don’t understand is why Joe got all upset when he found out that Demi was lying when he had only seen her a few times before. The last thing i can think of is how when the mean girl hid her bracelet in that stack of books, Demi didn’t see her because she was right there.
Also, I think it would have been so much better if the mean girl would have taken Demi’s song to trick Joe into thinking he had heard her before and then at the end Demi would rip her wig off or someting

  87. rickyriffle Says:

oh the plot made no sence either..

a lot of explaining like how did everyone learn camp rock..and one of the blondes girls (not the black one) SANG W. SOMEONE ELSE..WTF?

how did she learn all that if she was always w/ the blonde one.

one more thing disney is just running out of ideas..common camp rocks plot was so predictable but thats why were getting Beverly Hills Chihuahua!!!

  88. lyssa3000 Says:

i loved the movie but it could use some work!! Camp Rock 2 should be better after they saw what people said about it. Also at the end when Joe and Demi were talking after her song or w/e and they talked about a canoe ride … WHAT HAPPNED TO THE CANOE RIDE?!?! After We Rock was over i was waiting for the canoe ride but then the credits started to go so i started to yell at the T.V. I thought the over all movie was good and i wished Kevin and Nick were in it as much at they played it out to be as. All i can say Camp Rock 2 better bring it!! lol

I think joe did a great job acting and soo did nick. kevin did good to but i think he wasnt as believable because he didnt have experience on broadway like joe and nick. plus i didnt think it was right that disney was like… staring joe nick and kevin, when kevin and Nick were barely even in it but i really did like the movie. i mean i have had this is me stuck in my head for 4 days lol. ok so first i want to say, obviously, i love the Jonas Brothers. i have basically followed them since i saw Nick on broadway. even with that, this movie was….in the best way….not good. i think the best acting was probably by Aly Stoner. she is one of the only people in this movie i have ever seen on tv. with about 3 other people. i was really annoyed that Nick and Kevin werent in it as much as they were ’supposed’ to be. i am a huge tech geek so i pick out little problems with editing and stuff like that, i do it in alot of disney movies, but this one was really bad. it seemed like they were…rushed to get this movie done, it was insanely sloppy. Buck, i agree with you that the writing was unnatural. i dont think id ever say half of the stuff in the movie. hmm…what else…. oh! Demi. she is an amazing singer and all, but she definatly needs some help with her facial expressions. i think the whole thing was just badly written, and the direction probably had alot to do with it. the story line was…ok. it was just poorly excecuted. i could probably do better then this. actually i probably couldnt. im just making a point. lol. ok i think im done, i could probably say more but i wont. i love you Buck!!

    jonasaddict101 reply on June 24, 2008:

ok im gonna keep going. lol. i was just reading some of the other comments and i totally agree with all of you! but im just going to keep ranting on…. if they do a camp rock 2, they should get Kenny Ortega. no lie, it would be HSM 1, 2, Cheetah Girls 2, and Hannah Montana combined. it would be soooo good. he just has more of a sense of moves to go with the music, and he is a really good director because he puts people in the right place at the right time, he makes changes that would really benifit the whole movie. im tempted to like….write a letter with all the problems i spotted in the movie. that would be a really long letter… anyways, i forget what else i was going to say so ill stop now. peace!

Demi has a great voice and I thought they were all pretty good actors, it was a little cheesy but honestly it’s Disney people! You can’t expect a whole lot from a network that is making entertainment for kids, so I just enjoyed it anyway. I thought Joe & Demi would kiss though! Camp Rock 2 for sure!! I can’t wait for the next one, it was totally set up for a sequel, and I think that the second one will be even better :)

I love Demi and she beats Miley Cyrus by conntinents but she smiles to much. I think that maybe I didn’t like it cause I knew everything about it before I watched it.

TO THIS DIRECTCOR I SAY WHAT THE BUCK!

  97. ParamoreIsABand Says:

OK this may be long, just a heads up.
Ask any of my family or my friends and they will tell you I am a diehard fan of the Jonas Brothers. BUT the movie did disappoint me a little. The story line and the characters would have been great if they had introduced the characters more or got more into the story. I don’t know if you have ever read something called a fanfiction before, but what they basically are, are stories about famous people that fans write. It was kinda like one of those. You get all the details between the main characters but then they introduce you to other characters that are just pushed aside, nothing matters in the story except for about two people, and they skip tons of scenes and info so they can get to a romantic part or something. The writing was absolutley terrible. I mean, I’m sure the actors could have done better if the writing was up to par. Heck, I could have written a better script.
