Alright my view on ellen. I love ellen and i love her show so its hard. I think its kind of unfair to judge her for crossing the picket line. I mean we know she loves her writters and stuff but she has a lot of pressure from the producers and she has a contract that she has to follow if she wants to continue the show. So, shes doing what she must do. She is up against oprah and tyra and they dont have to stop there shows. She needs to stay to keep up with the other shows. I am glad shes on because i love her show. I feel for the writters and yes i believe that they should get the money they deserve. I mean look at the office they fired all the people working on the show…think what ellens up against…how would she feel if all the people lost there jobs because she didnt continue with her show. I dont know its hard but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. What would you do in ellens place?

also, one of the production people on “The Office”,Dale Alexander, sent this e-mail to the LA times
“Our show was shut down and we were all laid off this week. I’ve been watching the news since the WGA strike was announced and I have yet to see any coverage dedicated to the effect that this strike will have on the below the line employees.
I respect the WGA’s position. They probably do deserve a larger percentage of profit participation, but a lengthy strike will affect more than just the writers and studios. On my show we had 14 writers. There were also 2 cameramen, 2 camera assistants, 4 hair stylists, 4 makeup artists, 7 wardrobe people, 4 grips, 4 electricians, 2 craft service, 4 props people, 6 construction, 1 medic, 3 art department, 5 set dressers, 3 sound men, 3 stand-ins, 2 set PAs, 4 assistant directors, 1 DGA trainee, 1 unit manager, 6 production office personnel, 3 casting people, 4 writers assistants, 1 script supervisor, 2 editors, 2 editors assistants, 3 post production personnel, 1 facilities manager, 8 drivers, 2 location managers, 3 accountants, 4 caterers and a producer who’s not a writer. All 102 of us are now out of work.
I have been in the motion picture business for 33 years and have survived three major strikes. None of which have been by any of the below the line unions. During the 1988 WGA strike many of my friends lost their homes, cars and even spouses. Many actors are publicly backing the writers, some have even said that they would find a way to help pay bills for the striking writers. When the networks run out of new shows and they air repeats the writers will be paid residuals. The lowest paid writer in television makes roughly twice the salary than the below the line crewmember makes. Everyone should be paid their fair share, but does it have to be at the expense of the other 90% of the crewmembers. Nobody ever recoups from a strike, lost wages are just that, lost.
We all know that the strike will be resolved. Eventually both sides will return to the bargaining table and make a deal. The only uncertainty is how many of our houses, livelihoods, college educations and retirement funds will pay for it.â€

I think the Writers have the right to strike and that it’s not their fault that all these people are being fired. Of course it is horrible that all these people are out of work, but I think the real people to blame are the networks. I mean what kind of idiot plan is that? “While 10% of our staff is on strike let’s fire 90% of them to make the other 10% feel guilty and come back”. I think the network needs to stop being idiots, if they would have just negotiated with the writers from the beggining This wouldn’t have gotten so out of control.

Here in Portugal we don’t feel the effects of the writers strike yet. The shows from the states usually takes a few months to be aired here (even though i download many of them from the internet). I really understand what the writers are fighting for, but when major corporations win the billions they make, the idea of loosing just a tiny percentage makes them sweat.
About Ellen, i love her (even though i don’t see her show) and i kinda understand why she is still working on the show. The show employs, besides the writers, a lot other people that are also important for the show like the crew members. And maybe her thought was: whats more important? The lives and pay checks of maybe 10 writers? Or the lives and paychecks of maybe 100 crew members?
Thinking about this makes it understandable, but she is also a writer, and she must understand and acknowledge what the writers are fighting for and be more sympathetic and supportive….more than showing a black mark….
But thats me, its hard to judge.

I think Ellen is doing the best she can in a really difficult situation. She is so popular in part because she has an enormous heart and really cares about her audience, and she’s doing the show because she doesn’t want to let down the people who have travelled there to see the show. For some of them it’s probably their vacation of a life time. Ellen is not doing monologues and stuff as a show of support for her writers. And face it, it’s not like she couldn’t write one herself if she wanted to.

As far as Ellen goes, I think above everything else, she seems tired this season. A bit worn down, like her spirit is somehow missing from the show. She doesn’t seem to love it like she always has in the past. She needs a break, she’s worked herself too hard…I think all of the controversy may possibly be springing from a bit a restlessness? Just a thought…
Too bad the View sucks ass so much this season, they may have had a shot at stealing the Emmy. (Ha, only if this maternity leave lasted the rest of the season.) As far as ANTM goes, the only reason I’ve even been watching so closely this year is because it’s on right before Gossip Girl (LOVE THAT SHOW, you should talk about it sometime). I think that the fact that everything is fixed in Heather’s favor isn’t a bad thing this year, because frankly, there aren’t really any winners in this batch… maybe Jenah. Maybe Bianca if she keeps improving, but Heather isn’t any worse than her and everyone else is only on because they can only kick off one girl at a time, right?
Oh and I love how butt-hurt everyone is that Heather keeps doing well only because she’s given looks that she can pull off so easily…the dark looks. Um, DIDN’T ANY OF THEM WATCH THE LAST CYCLE?!?! Everyone said the same thing about our little friend Jaslene. Who won. Tyra needed a latina, and now she needs someone with a disability. You other girls are only there to make the season last longer…get over it.
