UGH- the puppy at the tire story story!

Oh, God…over the years my sons and I have taken in 2 hamsters, 2 cockatiels, and a choc lab, who’s at my feet right now, so I am a big softie for animals. I think you did the right thing but I know I would feel awful too. The thing is, everything about that situation was so wrong…was the dog stolen? Was she sick? Were they looking for $$$ to buy drugs? Maybe you could call animal control in your area just to let them know,in case the dog is stolen…(if u had taken her it’s receiving stolen property)…I have a bad feeling someone is missing a pup tonite…I hate it when people put U on the spot like that…Also, if U already have 4 dogs, you must know that it wouldn’t be fair to them or to the pup to just bring in a new member of the family on impulse…getting a new dog is almost like having another child…I guess I’m not much help but I do think you did the right thing (u have to trust ur gut reaction) and you really have my sympathy…Any time there’s an innocent animal involved it is just so hard…

Buckster.. I so get why you are upset… I love my shih tzu Adrian more than life itself.. but your instincts that something was wrong were most likely right… That was all so odd and like someone else said what if it was stolen or really sick or whatever.. you wouldn’t want to get involved in a big mess… So my advice is to let it go… and tell yourself that you did the right thing… cyber hugs to you and your hubby and all your darling pups..

Anyways, you already have four dogs, which is, in my mind, enough for any two people to handle. Not to mention (cynical as it sounds) you have no idea WHY this guy had the dog, or what his motives for selling her were. I think that it was best that you didn’t take it. <3

I’d feel bad too, but you did do the right thing. The whole situation sounds shady to me. You could have taken out your wallet and then they could have snatched it from you and you wouldn’t have your walet or the dog. That, and there are plenty of rescue agencies and the pound and breeders that have pups for you to love…

I think you did the right thing!! I mean it’s one thing in front of a pet store…but a tire store – weird. It’s a shame that we are influenced by the people who are selling these sweet creatures…it’s not their fault…it’s the owners’ – Don’t beat yourself up.
